AYSO REGION 769 - WEST OAHU

FAQ

How much is the registration fee for each season and what do I get for it?

The registration fee is dependent on age group.  Our fee is usually around $75.00 per player. We often offer a $10 early registration discount for each player.  Returning players from the Fall to Spring Season re-register for a lower cost.  The fee covers [layer registration processing fee, AYSO National Registration Fee (includes secondary medical insurance), AYSO Area Registration Fee, player uniform (jersey, shorts, and socks), and a subscription to National “Soccer Now” magazine.  The fee does not cover: ball, shinguards, water bottle and soccer cleats.  These items are the responsibility of the player to bring with them to practice and games.

I know nothing about soccer but I want to learn and get involved....what can I do?

Most of our board members started just like you.  The region hosts clinics and has training classes to teach you the volunteer everything that you need to know to be a “successful” coach and/or referee.  Just check our Clinics or Referee page for more information.

How do I register?

Information on how to register will be posted on our registration page.  If you are attempting to register after the season has begun, please contact our registrar and provide the following information:

  • Birthdate
  • Practice field location (Ewa Beach, Village Park, Waikele/Waipahu)

The registrar can be reach via email at [email protected].  You will be informed if space is available.  If no space is available, you will be given the option to be placed on a waitlist.

What size ball do I need to purchase?

U19, U16 and U14 Divisions: must be 26.5 to 28.0 inches in circumference and weigh between 14 and 16 ounces (Size 5).

U12 and U10 Divisions: must be 25.0 to 26.5 inches in circumference and weigh between 12 and 14 ounces (Size 4).

U6 and U8 Divisions: must be 23.0 to 25.0 inches in circumference and weigh between 10 and 12 ounces (Size 3).

How can I help?

We are always in need of volunteers. If you are undecided, fill out a volunteer form anyway. You can complete a form on the Internet at www.ayso769.org or do one in person during any of our player registrations.  Please consider helping in any way you can, it really makes the season go smoothly!

As a parent, you play a special role in contributing to the needs and development of youngsters. Through your encouragement and good example, you can help assure that all the boys and girls learn good sportsmanship and self-discipline. In AYSO, young people learn to work together, to sacrifice for the good of the team, to enjoy winning and deal appropriately with defeat – all while becoming physically fit and healthy. Best of all, they have fun.

Go to www.ayso769.org to complete an online volunteer application.  Contact the CVPA for any questions.

How can I support my child?

Supporting your child by giving encouragement and showing interest in their team is very important. Help your child work toward skill improvement and good sportsmanship in every game. Teach your child that hard work and an honest effort are often more important than victory – that way your child will always be a winner despite the outcome of the game!

We encourage your child to grow as an athlete, to develop a sense of teamwork and good sportsmanship, to gain self confidence, self esteem, and most of all—to have fun.

  • Always be positive
  • Your child wants to have fun
  • Reinforce positive behavior
  • Don’t be a sideline coach or referee

If you have still have questions, please email [email protected].

When does the Fall/Spring season start and how long is it?

The Fall season begins in August. The U5 age division runs for six (6) consecutive Saturdays beginning with the first Saturday in August. U12-U19 games usually begin mid- to late- August. U6-U10 games usually begin after Labor Day weekend.

U6 and above typically have a 10-game season which ends around mid-November.

The Spring season begins in January. The U5 age division runs for the six (6) consecutive Saturdays beginning with the first Saturday in January. U6-U12 usually begin their first games in late-January. U14-U19 begin in March.

I see other teams practicing. Why haven't I received a call/email from my child's coach about practice?

Although we have the permits to begin practice, that doesn’t necessarily mean that your child’s coach is able to start coaching. Because each coach, and all of us here at AYSO, is a parent volunteer, he/she does the best they can to contact you as their schedule permits. If you still haven’t heard from your child’s coach by mid-August (for Fall season) or mid-January (for Spring), please contact your child’s respective Age Group Coordinator (AGC) found on the Board of Directors page of this website.

I missed the in-person registration. Where can I mail my child's application and payment to?

You do not need to mail in your application.  You have the ability to complete and submit online.

I already registered my child for next season. Why do I keep getting email notifications about upcoming registration events?

Thank you for registering your child with us! In an effort to keep all parents informed, we send out an email reminder about a week prior to each registration event, regardless if you’ve already registered your child or not. You can unsubscribe to our emails by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of the email. However, you will no longer be informed of the latest news that we have going on in our region. For example: if games are cancelled due to weather, if there is a field change, etc.

My child's situation has changed and he/she can no longer play this upcoming season. How can I get a refund?

We’re sorry to see you go but we understand that things do come up. Please refer to our refund policy as listed on our website. It is important that you follow it to the letter in order for your refund to be processed properly.

I don't live in Ewa Beach, Village Park or Waikele. Can my child still play with West Oahu?

Absolutely! With AYSO, you can have your child play wherever you want. You choose the region that’s best for you. We have regions throughout the island and you can find the one that’s closer to where you live or one that’s on the way home from work at www.hawaiiayso.org. Wherever you decide, welcome to AYSO!

What days/times and where is practice?

Each volunteer coach has a different practice schedule based on their individual availability. Our region has permits to practice in Ewa Beach (Asing, Geiger and Mahiko Parks), Village Park and Waikele (Waikele Community and Waikele Neighborhood Parks). Practices are normally once a week for U6. U8 and up practice twice a week. Your coach will inform you in the beginning of the season what days and where practice will be. Practice normally begins around 5:00pm because that’s what time most get home from work.

When and where are the games held?

Games are on Saturdays at the Waipio Soccer Complex. Starting at the U10 age division, there may be some games where travel is involved for the more competitive Select teams where inter-region play is involved. In the Fall season, there are some teams in the Extra Program/Fall Select Program that play on Sundays. Your coach will inform you, if this pertains to your team, at the start of the season and when the game schedule is released.
